Empowering the Leaders of Tomorrow:  Success at the "Dream It, Be It" Career Fair

On March 7th, 2026, Tsawwassen Mills was transformed into a hub of inspiration and ambition as we hosted our first Dream It, Be It Career Fair. This high-energy career fair and workshop series brought together over 30 professional women and a vibrant group of young women (ages 14–21) from across South Delta and the surrounding communities.

A Day of Discovery and Mentorship

The event provided a welcoming, no-pressure environment where attendees could explore a vast array of career paths. From armed forces and architecture to engineering, police services, nuclear medicine and more, our volunteer mentors shared their personal journeys, highlighting that there is no single "right" path to success.

Participants had the unique opportunity to:

  • Connect with Role Models: Engage in one-on-one conversations with women leading bold careers.

  • Explore Diverse Professions: Gain insights into the education and skills required for a variety of careers.

  • Ask the Hard Questions: Discuss overcoming obstacles, balancing work-life demands, and navigating setbacks.

Hands-On Empowerment

In addition to the career tables, our interactive workshops were a major highlight of the day:

  • Rising Above Obstacles: Attendees learned practical strategies for resilience, discovering how to turn challenges into strengths and stay motivated in the face of setbacks.

  • Balancing Your Stress: This session provided vital tools for managing the pressures of school, family, and future planning, emphasizing the importance of healthy boundaries and self-care.

The Impact

The success of the March 7th event is measured not just by the numbers, but by the smiles, the newfound confidence, and the "aha" moments shared by the attendees. By providing access to professional role models and tangible resources, we are helping to ensure that young women in our community feel empowered to set achievable goals and pursue their dreams with confidence.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to Tsawwassen Mills for hosting us, our dedicated team of role models who volunteered their time, our Soroptimist volunteers and to all the participants who joined us with open minds and big dreams.  This event would not have been possible without tremendous community support.  Please take a look at our generous sponors and donors below.
